Frequently asked questions

What is Orsta?

Orsta is flexible financial reporting software for accountancy practices, fractional CFOs and in-house finance teams. It combines trial balance imports, reusable mappings, calculations, reporting components and report templates. Management accounts are one of its main workflows.

Is Orsta available now?

Yes. You can create an account and start a 14-day free trial with one company. No payment method is required.

Which files can I import?

You can upload CSV and Excel files. During import, identify the columns for account codes, account names and amounts. You can save the layout for future uploads in the same format.

Can I reuse account mappings and report components?

Yes. You can keep account mappings for later uploads and reuse tables, key performance indicators and charts across reports.

Can I add commentary and export reports?

Yes. You can add commentary in the report builder, export the report to PDF and download its tables in Excel. The Excel export contains tables rather than the full report layout.

Does Orsta connect directly to accounting software?

Direct Xero and QuickBooks connections are planned. For now, upload CSV or Excel trial balances.

Can I use Orsta through an AI assistant?

The ChatGPT plugin is being prepared for submission. Its first release will use Excel and CSV trial balances, saved mappings and Orsta reports. Direct accounting connections are outside this first release.

Does Orsta replace my accounting system?

No. Orsta uses accounting data to prepare financial reports. Continue to maintain your books and post adjustments in your accounting system.

What does Orsta cost?

The 14-day trial includes one company. Paid access costs £18 per organisation each month, including the first company, with each additional company costing £9 per month and no VAT. The trial does not become paid access unless an organisation owner accepts the price.

What happens when the trial ends?

If you do not accept paid access, Orsta becomes read-only. You can view existing data and export reports for 30 days, but you cannot import data, make changes, run new reports or create companies.

Where can I read the terms and data information?

Read the Terms of Service, Privacy Notice and Data Processing Agreement. The Subprocessor List sets out the service providers used by Orsta.
