Connected financial reporting
Orsta brings imported accounting data, account mapping, reusable report structures and exports into one financial reporting workflow. Management accounts are a core use case, while the report builder remains flexible enough for other report structures.
Available now
- CSV and Excel trial balance imports.
- Saved file layouts and reusable account mappings.
- Tables, KPIs, charts and report templates.
- Commentary and saved reports for each period.
- PDF reports and Excel table exports.
Coming soon
- A direct Xero connection.
- A direct QuickBooks connection.
- An MCP connection for approved actions through compatible AI assistants.
An AI-assisted workflow
The goal is to let you ask an AI assistant to prepare June's management accounts for a selected company. This could work through tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, depending on their connection and file support. Orsta does not yet connect to these assistants.
- The user uploads an Excel or CSV trial balance for the period.
- Orsta makes the imported data and account mapping status available.
- The assistant flags new or unmapped accounts and proposes changes for approval.
- Orsta calculates the saved tables, KPIs and charts.
- Previous commentary is carried forward and updates are reviewed.
- After your review, Orsta creates a new saved report version and exports the report to PDF or its tables to Excel.
- The assistant returns the exported file where supported.
This AI-assisted workflow is planned. Today, you can upload CSV or Excel trial balances, map accounts, build reports and export the results in Orsta.
Other requests planned for MCP
- “Check for unmapped accounts before generating the report.”
- “Carry forward last month's commentary and show me what needs updating.”
- “Show me the KPIs and tables before creating the final report.”
- “Add this approved commentary and create a new report version.”
- “Export the report as PDF and its tables as Excel.”
